Hi everyone! I`m Chef Nermala. I have been a pastry chef for over 20 years. I started cooking at the age of 10 and baked my first butter cake when I was 12.
At that time, my mother was working for an expatriate family and the lady of the house was a retired French chef. My mother wanted me to learn from the chef. The French chef agreed to take me under her wings and the rest is history.Looking back, if it was not for my mother, I will not be a successful chef today. I truly owe it to my mother.
In 2003, I attended a bread-making course in Italy. To upgrade my skills further, I took the Certification in Pâtisserie from Taylor's University. I am also the in-house chef for Astro Vaanavil since 2007. I have hosted many TV shows which includes Deepavali Vandrachu on Astro Vanavil; RTM1's Seenak Rasa and Apa Kata Wanita and TV3's Apa-apa aje, Wanita Hari Ini and Nona.
I also contributed recipes to magazines such as Jelita and Famous Cuisine. In 2009, I published my first book, Pastri dan Roti. Currently, I am freelance chef who conducts baking and cooking classes for junior chefs, corporate companies, working ladies and housewives.
I am also a panel chef for http://www.kuali.com/ and also judges for baking and cooking competition. My classes include pastries, French and Italian cuisine, European breads, Asian fusion and Malaysian cuisine.
